Someone Waiting by Anne Maybury

My latest volume to our PDF library today:  Anne Maybury’s novel Someone Waiting, first published in 1961, is a gothic romantic suspense story centered on Leonie Sarat, who returns to the haunting Heron House for a family reunion and must confront painful memories of her guardian Marcus’s death, her unresolved feelings for Philip, and unsettling secrets that continue to shadow the family. Originally appearing in the early 1960s, the book was issued in paperback by Ace, and later reprinted in various formats, including a 1980 Ace mass market edition with 299 pages (ISBN 0441774741) and a large-print hardcover published by Thorndike Press in 1983 (ISBN 0896214222). The story reflects Maybury’s signature style of blending mystery, romance, and atmosphere, and it belongs to her productive period of the late 1950s and early 1960s, following Shadow of a Stranger (1960) and preceding works like Stay Until Tomorrow (1961).
